The Changing Face Of Action Heroes

The Changing Face Of Action Heroes

Philadelphia, PA – At 6’, 200 pounds of solid muscle and chiseled, ruggedly handsome looks, Joe Diamond, international martial arts champion, is destined to be the next action hero. He could easily stand toe to toe with any of the men Hollywood deems bankable action heroes, e.g. Vin Diesel, Wesley Snipes, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Now add to the mix, Jillian "The Jaguar" Bullock, who at 5’6, 160 pounds is stunningly beautiful and also has a well-toned, muscular body. As a martial artist, wrestler and boxer, Bullock is also an award winning writer, director and producer. She has been called the upcoming female John Woo and the first and only ‘real’ female action director.

Bullock, who trains at Diamond’s Philadelphia school in Jiu-jitsu (a Brazlian style of wrestling) and Thai kickboxing, thought Diamond would be great as the leading man in her upcoming film, "Dark Corners." Once the film’s producer Delayne Powe auditioned Diamond for the role as an undercover National Security Agent, she agreed he was perfect for the part. "The natural chemistry between Joe and Jillian reminds me of Barbara Streisand and Robert Redford in the Way We Were," Powe states. "And that’s my favorite movie." Together, Bullock and Diamond have the ‘look’ of a Hollywood couple on screen and off, which is important when you have a love scene that is as hot as the one is in this movie. The chemistry the two actors have is natural and free-flowing whether they are engaged in a Matrix like fight scene in the film or a hot, passionate romantic scene. Even though this is Diamond’s first acting role, he is using the discipline from his martial arts training to focus his energy into learning the skills and acting necessary for the film. "Because Joe and I are two very physical people, we have a raw, passionate zest for everything we do, and we translate that to our acting," Bullock says.

Bullock has been practicing various forms of martial arts for many years and has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. She is also a wrestler (she trains with former 3 time WWE tag team champion Afa "The Wild Samoan," who is the uncle of wrestling superstar and actor The Rock). In boxing, she trains at the Upper Darby PAL gym. Diamond is a 4th degree black belt in Chung Do Kwan Korean Karate, a 1st degree black belt in Shotokan, a brown belt in Judo, and a brown belt in Rickson Gracie Jiu-jitsu.

Dark Corners, is being filmed in Philadelphia as a short film, a pilot for a possible television series. The story, a political thriller, focuses on Bullock’s character (Vanessa Blake) and Diamond’s character (Jason Anderson), who both are National Security Agents. The script, written by Bullock, examines the pros and cons of war and how governments all over the world, including the United States government, is doomed to repeat the same mistakes if something new and different isn’t done in deciding the fate of people all over the world. A very timely and sensitive topic.
